My mother used to throw lots of parties, open house type so peeps could come and go during a set time window. Lots of party foods, which I used to help her make, all finger type foods. One thing we always had and made lots of it was Chex mix. There is something about that which is habit forming and you have to be careful! When I went GF I thought I had to kiss that good memory goodbye forever. But now I've found out that Chex is making many of their cereals GF, and they are OU kosher!

This is SOOOO Good!

I remember years ago before deciding to become more observant and keep Kosher, and before finding out I had CD, a trip to Cape Cod where they had just put in a UNO Pizzeria and restaurant. We were staying on the beach, it was fall and our room had a fireplace, a hot tub and a view of the ocean. What more could you want, right? Well, we were hungry and didn't feel like eating at any of the wonderful array of restaurant they had there and where going to get seafood ...

Mac and cheese has always been my most favorite comfort food. I have tried various ways to make it over the years and thought when switching to GF pasta it wouldn't be that much different, but I found out otherwise.

I mainly use Tinkyada Rice pasta. I cook it the energy saving way ( boil for two minutes then shut off heat and cover for 20). But when made the way I used to make my mac and cheese I found that it was coming out a soggy mess. The cheese absorbed into the pasta and was just ...

The farm I get my organic produce from is having a bumper crop of raspberries this year (these are a fall variety). Last weeks weren't eaten right away and got moldy so I had to throw them out. Yesterday hubby picked about a quarts worth and I didn't want them to go bad so had to come up with something to make with them. I found some good recipes online but it seems all of them had some necessary ingredients I didn't have and couldn't substitute, or they were using raspberry jam. The exception ...

It was in the GF section and once I checked it all over I got a box to test out.

From what I was finding online, you do not want to use 'too much' of this (more than 2tbs in a recipe of 2 cups flour) as it has so much protein, minerals and vitamins -- it is powerful. SO, I got to expiramenting this week, and thus far I really like it.

I wrote about this in the kosher section but realized that since this is organic pasta I should put it here since those looking for organic won't be looking in there!

I tried this pasta, pastariso Elbows for Shabbat and made Mac and Cheese with it. I came out really good and I wanted to let you know. It is kosher and organic, and no GMO's and brown rice, using recycled boxes and no cross contamination in plant, it is GF.

They have a lot of these pasta, and the company is Maplegrove Gluten ...

I know that there is some thread around here about pasta but I can't find it.

I tried some new ones lately and wanted to share about them.

Around Passover time I found some non gebrokts pastas from Gefen at the store. So I bought a bunch of them. I guess I was over eager and should have bought one and tasted right away. The one I tried for Shabbat was the shells. I only cooked it like they said and the things went flat! They are made very thin to start with and just don't hold up once ...

I would think using GF Kosher Marshmallows would work just as fine, but we'd have to play with the amount of Agar Agar to equal the gelatin, unless ya'll are able to find Kosher Beef or Fish gelatin.

Personally, I would use a butter alternative instead of oil on this one to make it healthier.. but that is me.

Guess what I found out today?

Pampers has gluten in their diapers!

Not only that, they swear "It can't be absorbed by the skin"... just like all the different celiac associations say about gluten and wheat ... Which is asinine, considering the skin is the biggest organ of our bodies.

Only problem was, mine was not GF. I have been buying around the holidays the Kosher items that are on sale and when a $7.99 jar of Gefilte goes on for half price, look out pantry, stock up time! Well, mine just happened to be all maneshewitz, and all of them have matzah meal in them, thus , Gluten! ...

We have the pleasure of living in an area of much wildlife and have taken to feeding them all. I just wanted to extend a precaution to those who do the same. In some wild bird seed mixes ( and domestic birds as well , check your feed) there can be gluten containing grains.

For instance we have a mixture bought at a feed store that wasn't marked but upon examination I think I see some oats in there with the corn.

We put up a small pond on our back porch and on Sunday went to purchase some plants for it. The place we went to had many fish, beautiful koi that costs into the hundreds of dollars. I loved them but wouldn't spend that on something I ate let alone would but in a pond, so we ended up getting two comets and at another place found a baby golden koi for $5. We grabbed some food and when I went to feed them my suspitions proved out, the first ingredient is wheat. So please be careful if you have ...
