We've found a keeper! Eagle Pack Empty
PostSubject: We've found a keeper! Eagle Pack   We've found a keeper! Eagle Pack EmptyThu Apr 03, 2008 5:50 pm

Before I told you of my search for GF food and how I had come across Eagle Pack, in this thread.

Well now we have moved on. This past weekend I almost bought the store out ( they were having a special of over 1/2 off a small bag!). So I got seven bags of this stuff and hoped my girl would like it as much as I thought she would. She must be half cat as she has always loved fish, especially cajun style, salmon and sardines, so this seemed perfect!

Holistic Select® Anchovy, Sardine & Salmon Meal Formula

Anchovies, and Sardines are two of the best fish around for people, so it certainly seems to make sense they would be as much benefitial to animals as well. Also Salmon contain important omega 3 and 6 oils that are essential for good health. Not to mention, she loves all three of these.

It was her birthday so we took her with us, brought her inside and we explored. She got two bags of her new gluten free snack bisquits and we got them to bring out a case of this food. She also left with some gluten free breath freshner treats and a new collar as well as two new friends! We took advantage of their B1G1F on fish for the day and got two new bettas to replace the ones we lost awhile ago. ( still working on names for them).

So when we finally made it home, we mixed this new formula with the last bits of the old one and let her go at it. And she loved it! She has gone frequently to the bag sitting on the floor and sniffed it. she knows it was purchased just for her. I have no problem with this, just sorry we didn't buy the last two bags they had left on the shelf.

I have looked over the ingredients carefully as my concern now was, what about Passover? Do I have to sell this food? But a careful examination to me has revealed nothing that will force me to do that. It looks good for Passover, has no trief meat in it ( fish only) and she loves it, what more could you ask for?

We are so happy!cheers

Here are the ingredients so you can see for yourself.

Quote :
Ingredients: Anchovy, Sardine & Salmon Meals, Oatmeal, Ground Brown Rice, Ground White Rice, Menhaden Fish Oil, Dried Beet Pulp, Flaxseed, Dried Egg Product, Carrots, Sun-Cured Alfalfa, Peas, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Quinoa (Organic), Apples, Blueberries, Inulin, Beta-Carotene, Cranberries, Dehydrated Kelp, Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Yucca Schidigera Extract, DL-Methionine, Vitamin A Acetate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, d-Pantothenic Acid, Niacin Supplement, Choline Chloride, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Thiamine Mononitrate, Folic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Biotin, Lecithin, Rosemary Extract, Inositol, Polysaccharide Complexes of Zinc, Iron, Manganese, Copper and Cobalt, Potassium Iodate, Sodium Selenite, Lactobacillus acidophilus Lactobacillus casei, Enterococcus faecium, B. subtillus, Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus coagulins, Aspergillus oryzae, and Aspergillus niger.
Again it does contain oats, which may be contaminated but in such a small amount, I think for most would be safe, exeptions would be for those with dermatitis herpetiformis who need to take extra procautions.

As you can also see it also contains some good bacteria for intestinal health, this is important for my dog as she has had problems in the past. And glucosamine is added to maintain these levels and is great for my dog who has a problem with her knees!

We are grateful to find this and to get such a wonderful deal for our fist seven bags!

We've found a keeper! Eagle Pack Empty
PostSubject: Some bad news to report   We've found a keeper! Eagle Pack EmptySun May 04, 2008 4:10 pm

After almost finishing off our second bag of this variety, I noticed my dogs health deteriorating greatly. She started to be real sluggish, not interested in eating, she would barely finish half her food and I always mixed it with rice, yams and boiled ground turkey . She didn't even show interest when I was eating some chopped liver only a few feet away from her. I decided to take her off this food and only give her the rice, turkey and yams. Within a few days she has greatly improved and eating much more, and her interest is back as well as she isn't sleeping as much. We are still having some problems with her bowel movements and hope that will improve.

I can't say if this is the food or not but the change right after taking her off it is remarkable. So just to let others know we won't be using this food any longer and the search will continue.
