Pastas
Mon Aug 18, 2008 5:42 pm by Yentl
I know that there is some thread around here about pasta but I can't find it.

I tried some new ones lately and wanted to share about them.

Around Passover time I found some non gebrokts pastas from Gefen at the store. So I bought a bunch of them. I guess I was over eager and should have bought one and tasted right away. The one I tried for Shabbat was the shells. I only cooked it like they said and the things went flat! They are made very thin to start with and just don't hold up once cooked. They also came out very translucent. Like rice noodles. I didnt' want to throw them out being as they were a bit pricey, so I tried to salvage them by adding some of my homeade sauce ( tomato) and this was after I rinsed them cold. I then put this in the fridge and the next day, served with some cold sauted vegetables left over from Erev Shabbat dinner. Hubby said they were good. ( I wasn't feeling like eating). I tried it the next day and it wasnt' bad. They weren't as mushy as I explected, but I think I'll stick with other celiac brands. Shame is I still have like 3 other boxes of different shapes, but same thing, same company. green roll eyes
