Pamela's Products Chocolate Brownie Mix Review
Tue May 06, 2008 4:58 pm by Bete'avon!
Hey folks, I thought I had reviewed this before, I know I've had it but I see I only posted about Pamelas chocolate cake mix. So I got another Brownie mix and made it for Shabbat this past week.

To properly review this I decided to start with the original oil recipe
This calls for adding 1 large egg + 1/2 cup oil and 1/4 water. I used a fairly large egg in this so that may have effected it a bit.

I baked it according to directions ( 16-20 ) and at 16 minutes stuck a toothpick in it and it was done. I baked it in a 8x8" pan that has a dark finish.

So what did I think of it? It is chocolately because the mix contains large chunks of chocolate of good quality. It is fairly moist, and having a piece now, 5 days later it still retains its moisture. This 'moisture' cannot be called 'gooey' like some like their brownies, but it isnt' too dry.

However............I can really taste the rice flour it is made of. Something I don't like, the grainy ness of it and it comes through quite a bit, more than the chocolate can override in my opinion.
This original recipe version definatly requires an icing even thogh I do not like iced brownies, this needs it.

I only get a very slight hint of molasses and none of honey, which is the first two ingredients listed so that is surprising. It uses brown rice so that may be a factor, not sure. Sweet rice is a lot further down.

So, to buy again based on this, I probably wouldn't and would live off memories, but Pamelas' is versitile and I remember it took some trying the different ways to make it on the bag and also my own combo to get her cake mix to come out good so I will continue on in my quest to find the perfect brownie mix!

There are 7 other ways to prepare it on the bag, I will try the one that I think will produce the best results next when I procure another bag.

I will let you all know when I do.
