So many things that are for breakfast also contain gluten. I have been hunting down what I can for something to eat besides eggs.

I have found a few things

Enjoy Life! Natural Brands -Seems to be a great company. They make cereal/ snack/ b'fast bars that are:

  • GF
  • Vegan
  • Pareve Kosher
  • Allergen free - wheat, dairy, nuts, peanuts, soy, fish and shellfish and egg
  • Made in a bakery that does routine testing for: gluten, casein, peanut and soy protein

I had their caramel apple bar , it wasn't bad, kinda small so eat something more for b'fast but this will get you going.

Cal:110, vzg 25 Protein and fiber 2 %

Grain: Rice, apples and fig and date paste main ingredients

EnviroKidz Organic Koala Crisp cereal -- No additives, or preservatives, 1% sales donated to wildlife Certified Organic, Certified Kosher by Vaad Ha'ir of Winnipeg.

REVIEW- I'm eating some right now. Smile This cereal is very close to Cocoa Krispies if you like that. I have n't had it for years. This of course is much better as it is organic. It comes in a great fun box for children with games and puzzles inside as well as outside, truly a multitask package! No Preservatives, no Additives. just Org brown rice flour, evaporated cane juice, org cocoa, nat chocolate flavor, sea salt, org molassaes and org rice bran extract.

This cereal is pretty good, especially if you need a chocolate fix. I like it because it isn't too sweet, I don't like sweetened cereals, never ate sugar on my cereal, cringed when I first saw my husband do it, refused to let him teach that to my son. Wink

ALLERGIN NOTE: Made in facility that contains peanuts, tree nuts and Soy

________________________________________________________________

GLUTINO- GF cereal, - Honey nut - these are little cheerios like circles. Main ingredient Corn ( flour) corn starch, cane juice, canola oil, Vit E , part defatted lmond meanl, honey nut flavour, almonds, honey, baking powder, salt

ALLERGIN ALERT: May contain traces of sesame, soy and milk

This isn't organic, and this cereal I haven't been able to find a hecksher on. I don't really care too much for this cereal, as it is too sweet for me. It has flecks of brown which are probably the almonds, but honey and cane juice amounts are too much. Very crunchy though and stays crunchy in milk awhile.

Here's a HOT cereal not mentioned. Buckwheat.

I have Cream of Buckwheat, from Pocono Heart of Buckwheat Brand. It is Organic, Wheat and GF, OU certified, fat free, sodium free.

This can be used like other hot cereals or you can make it like grits, or cook it and cool it overnight in a loaf pan and then slice and coat with some rice flour and fry like fried grits. Or use like polenta.

You can get it at Amazon or here https://tbmpy.com/product_organic.htm

They also have kasha , grosts and flours, here is their home site

http://www.poconofoods.com/

They even give away free recipes with their buckwheat flour.

There is a recipe for classic Varnishkes too!

Glutino makes a honey nut cereal!?!?! and how did I miss that!?? Mad

The cereals we have here are not that great compared to the selection in the US, since most people want something Muesli like, especially if going "healthy". Me, I want my EnviroKidz and Arrowhead Mills cereals.. I don't care they cost about 4$ a box.. it's better than getting plain corn flakes that you have to put tons of sugar on to have any taste (even in whole milk!).

3 Pauly is one GF company here that puts out cereal, one of which being the corn flakes that have no milk, eggs or malt. It has Corn, topinambour syrup and iodised common salt.

www.3pauly.de

The closest thing to the chocolate Envirokidz cereal we have is put out by Sun-Sol (www.glutenfree.sunsol.net) and this one has rice, sugar, cocoa, palm oil, and soy lecthicin.

Unfortunately again with the no certification..

The good thing though here, is they will list if something is containing milk or meat, or soy. They aren't as careful with listing corn products though, I guess because they don't think of it much as an allergen here.

I'll keep an eye out for glutino cereals now that I know they have a honey nut 'cheerio'..

It was very expensive and I didn't think worth it, but give it a try. I got stuff with environkidz koala crisp and that's where I've stayed. I ate up my last box and we have no money till payday so I found this bag of granola sitting there and decided to give it a try!

I'm sure glad I did, I had this one:

REVIEW: By far this is the best granola I've ever had! As you can see by the ingredients above it's packed with all kinds of goodies, and they don't skimp. I've had it quite awhile and it was very fresh tasting, crunchy, no rancidness , whic I could expect with all the nuts. This stuff is great! I had it in milk but would have it plain, or now I am looking for a recipe that uses granola in it, maybe some type of bread or muffin?

I sure reccomend this, even at the price, it is certainly worth it!

There is a club online advertised on the bag, I think I'll join and get the $1.50 coupon off my next purchase because now I am sure I will be making one! Smile

PostSubject: Bakery on Main - Review Cranberry Orange Cashew   BreakFast! EmptyTue May 20, 2008 8:21 pm

I finally got around to buying another bag of trhe Extreme and also picked up a bag of the Cranberry Orange Cashew. It is just as good as the extreme. Very fresh and tasty. Like it was just made. I have to stop myself from eating too much of this. The cranberries aren't tart and are plentiful, the cashews I've only come across one so far. There are these little disc shaped pieces in there that are crispy and make a fine addition to it.

good stuff, put some in a baggie and go. It will stay in your purse for a quick pick me up till dinner! A- OK
