| Yikes!
I was making out my menu for Shabbat and a dinner I was planning for seven guests. I served five courses, and one of those was our traditional, goes with anything and any holiday, gefilte! Only problem was, mine was not GF. I have been buying around the holidays the Kosher items that are on sale and when a $7.99 jar of Gefilte goes on for half price, look out pantry, stock up time! Well, mine just happened to be all maneshewitz, and all of them have matzah meal in them, thus , Gluten! I was so downhearted! I served the gefilte and busied myself with the rest of the courses while everyone enjoyed!
Then the next day I was determined to find a GF gefilte and I did!
Theres frozen
Shindlers and Raskin's
IN jars
Rokeach and Kedem
so I know I can find one or more of these come Pasach! | |

| awesome, I'll see if I can try it out sometime, if the butcher in Frankfurt am Main is willing to supply. All he had was Manischewitz. | |

| They probably carry that because it is the most widely known and it is cheaper to make and so can sell cheaper, because of the filler of the matzah. | |

| I see that amazon.com carries Rokeach in a can... it stinks that stuff like that can't be sent internationally... it'd be nice to at least try.. It actually looks like a reasonable price, esp since it is GF! | |

| Do you have any stores that carry any canned, jarred gefilte? maybe you could ask them to order some of the GF kind? I'm sure you are not the only one that would use it. Sometimes if you promise to take a case they will order it for you. | |

| I am going to try my hand at making my own this year, I want to try a Salmon variety. I have seen it online to buy, ready made, but it is an arm and a leg! I think the guests will like it better and I can make sure it is GF. I will start experimenting soon, I have a source for some wild caught salmon that I think I will use. Here's one recipe, but I won't be making this much! http://www.jewish-food.org/recipes/salmgef2.htmJust use GF matzah for the matzah meal. | |

| We decided to rejoin a wholesale club we used to belong to. I wasn't sure if it would pay or not because now I am limited even more with being GF, before it was that they didn't carry many kosher products. But now they are getting more organic produce, so that's a bonus. Anyway, I was on the way to the checkout when I decided to get some tuna. And guess what I found nearby? Kedem Israeli Style Gefilte fish!!!! I am thrilled, not only GF but also NO MSG!!!! Also no egg yolks or matzo meal This is made in Israel and I got 3 jars for 3.33 a jar! Which is much cheaper than the others that have the fillers of matzah meal! This only has water, carp mullet onions, egg whites , sugar, potato starch, salt , carrots, pepper and carageean. Now I do prefer the whitefish kind or whitefish and pike, but I'll give this a try! I got six jars so I hope it's good! I'll let you know! | |
